We’re just going to post a summary for those who don’t visit the gazebo or fandom_wank. After plowing through all that shite, we figured it’d be too soon if we never heard about AG again.
AG wrote a dissertation on how she posted those chats from Icy because she was planning to flounce anyway. Something about not wanting to be part of a fandom where people like Icy reign. Because we all know Icy is the absolute worst thing that ever happened to fandom, or ever could happen. But it’s okay because she doesn’t care! Don’t you feel stupid? This whole time, she never cared!
She claims someone used the info Jennday posted at the gazebo (a screenshot of her LinkedIn profile, in a post which LJ Abuse has since deleted) to track her down at work. It could be true; it’s happened before. Then again, people have lied about it before, too.
The gazebo jeered at the ‘tation, natch. It’s actually tamer than we expected, but of course certain people are conspicuously absent.
Fandom_wank even posted about it. They usually don’t bother with us; we think there’s a rule about linking to locked comms, and since our fandom does almost everything under lock and key…
Anyone read Sarah Palin’s books? Basically, “I love America, but it wasn’t ready for me, so I’ll let everyone worship their false idol until I am risen in 2012. Meanwhile, I’ll admit to a few lesser evils here and there so you’ll believe me when I turn around and settle all my scores. But if you don’t want me, that’s your loss. I don’t care.”
Replace “America” with “fandom” and “2012” with “a new fandom” and you’ve pretty much summarized this dissertation.

I like AG. Yeah what she did with the whole re-tweeting thing was stupid. But perhaps she, like a lot of other people, got fed up with the devotion of Icys followers and was trying to open their eyes a little. She called people out on their shit. She didn’t act like her work was an original masterpiece. Happily uploaded her fics so people could download it. Compared to a lot of BNAs she was pretty normal. Plus she gave us Twank!
As for little secret calling twankhard hurtful well that certainly made me laugh (does she not read back 90% of the comments she posts.)
Jennday publishing any of that information was out of order in my opinion. She can say I know for sure it’s this person but putting all that information in one posting on this fandom…you’re asking for trouble. Look at the way Icys followers behaved towards that other girl and she only translated (or whatever she did) MOTU. It was pretty predictable what would happen publishing AGs info after everything that went down between them.
Does anyone know why the gazebo had such an issue with AG? I’ve been seeing catty comments about her on there for forever but I’ve never known what went down.
Where did littlesecret say twankhard was hurtful? Wherever it was, it sounds like irony bypassed her heartless, mocking ass. She’s a nasty piece of work.

I think she cares. You don’t write a dissertation and DON’T care, but I think she’s trying to find some closure to this FUCKED UP mess. And it is FUCKED UP. I have no love for any of these goddamn peeps trying to monopolize off of Stephenie’s cash cow, and maybe just a teensy ity bity respect because they’re wrote good stories (some of them, anyway). But…there’s a plethora of good stories and writers in the fandom who have also had smoke blown up their ass but respected the fandom for what it was and didn’t try to monopolize off of it. It’s TWILIGHT FAN-FICTION. STEPHENIE MEYER’S CASH COW.
It’s only obvious..all these BNF’s (That’s Big Name Fucker’s) came into the fandom to show they’re love for a series, but they’re not checking out that way. A little smoke goes along way. 20,000 reviews goes along way. But it’s now so out of control that people with review counts of 320 are now pulling their stories to publish, because they think they’ve got a Pullitzer on their hands.
Anyways, back to AG. I’m not her biggest fan, I’ve had maybe one or two dealings with her during my time in the fandom and some of them have been positive and NOT so positive. But I think she cares, and she used to care alot. But if she says she received calls at work, I’m one to believe it. People are crazy, people kill each other for stupid shit, and ICY-fans…well, there’s fucking whackos all over the place. If this is her (AG) goodbye to this shitty little place, I wish her luck. Frankly, I appreciated her in the days when she focused on TLYDF, or I don’t know…when she was writing? But I think she’s speaking truth, other than popularity, she’s got no reason to. No?
ICY–well, I’ve wiped cowshit off my shoes that smells better than the BS she spouts out, but I think that about everybody that’s PULLED to PUBLISH.
AG has an employer? I thought she worked for herself, never leaving the house. Wasn’t that her schtick? “I’m antisocial, hate talking on the phone, don’t like people, never leave the house, forget to eat because I’m so self-involved — but I’m not a drama queen!” Yeah, you can guess I’m not a fan of AG or her writing.
I knew there’d be no going back from it, no explanation, excuse, or contrived rant I could have given to save face, when even I knew it was classless and tacky. I also realized I’d have to cop to my involvement with Twankhard.
Around the 24 hour period following SQIDWank, my thinly-veiled involvement with Twankhard is somewhat revealed. It didn’t really matter much to me, because I’d already told everyone I knew, and like I said before, I didn’t have much of a problem doing it un-anon in the first place.
Sorry, I call bullshit. She may have told a few friends, probably because she wanted backslaps, but why would posting Icy’s tweets mean she’d have to “cop” to Twankhard to everyone else? And she contradicted herself; first she said putting her name on Twankhard would have created a shitstorm instead of “inspiring dialog” or whatver, then at the end there she says she didn’t want to be anon in the first place.
Typical CYA. Now that she’s out, she’s trying to backtrack and say it was all part of her plan from the moment she and Icy had those chats.
Well why else would she save the chat? She was probably just waiting for the big news that Icy was publishing to finally release them. When the news broke out, AG already knew what Icy’s flying monkeys could do and knew there would be no going back if she tweeted their chat. If you know you are committing fandom suicide, why not just reveal you’re involvement with twankhard? I mean there was a group of people dedicated in finding the people behind twankhard; therefore, wouldn’t it be great to rub it in their faces and add more shock value to your departure? Something I’m sure AG would have loved doing. However she didn’t get a chance to do so because someone else, jennday(?), kind of did it for her. Anyways I think it was pretty obvious that AG was behind twankhard. I mean did you see all those gifs that they would use? Also the snarkiness in some of those twanks just screamed AG.
The default setting on gchat is to save chat transcripts. Deleting is more effort than keeping.
Oh I didn’t know that because I don’t use gchat and from all those emails I have in my inbox, that are at least a year old, I agree that it is easier just to let them pile up.
But that doesn’t mean you post them for public consumption.

Note: RE – The MSNBC article mentioned in the Twankharder post with my RL name. I’ve been lobbying to have this article edited for months, and have only just recently made a little headway with contacting the right people. That said, many people also share my RL name, but when given in conjunction with my town and place of employment, it kind of narrows that down to me.

It’s all circular. AG had a valid complaint with Jennday, but she was complaining about info that many in fandom could recite offhand anyway. We didn’t realise her employer on that screenshot wasn’t herself (one of us thought she had said she was self-employed), so at the time it just seemed like, erm, you posted private chats and you’re complaining that Jennday gave out your name now? Your name that many already knew?
She whinged about her privacy after she violated Icy’s (who then violated…both of theirs..) then Jennday sent a C&D after someone threatened to do to her exactly what she had just done to AG. None of them seem to grasp the irony.
Ah but don’t you see that privacy only refers to your own personal information and not everyone else’s? That makes total sense, riiiiight?
Names weren’t really given at CC. We all covered them up on our tags and replaced with our screen names. The panels were done under screen name, and so were the distributed programs. It was a big event to get rid of the real names on our tags, actually. We all huddled around in a circle and used masking tape and sharpie to do it.

I could be completely wrong here, but wasn’t the_gazebo founded to specifically discuss WA? If so, I’d be curious to know how the author of said FF is now public enemy # 1. IMO, AG has put a lot of effort into this community only to have it bite her in the ass.

There should be a rule in the fandom saying if you get beyond x number of review you will shut the fuck up for a few months and not shoot your mouth off on everything at the first opp. Seriously. AG is getting what she deserves and no one believes her whiney, lame-assed diatribe. Back peddling to save her bitchy persona isn’t something you do if you don’t give a shit. Ask her about her own plans to publish and then we’ll know the true meaning of hypocrisy. Remember, she never does anything unless she can profit from it or it’s at someone else’s expense. Three words: KARMA’S A BITCH! (But then, I guess…it takes one, to know one.)
Was AG the only person behind Twankhard? There will be endless things worthy of Twank in this fandom. Are other fandoms this nuts? It’s dizzying with all these fic authors going after one another. It’s like ‘When Fandom Attacks’ or ‘Fic Authors Gone Wild.’ Regardless, I’m losing interest in fic in general and only have a few that I keep up with.
And publishing fic (like Icy) and saying it’s an original work? No legit publishing house would touch something that was previously posted for free online. Most of them don’t translate well. I think fic is a great way for writers to cut their teeth and get feedback, but if they want to get legit published, write a truly original story.
I always wonder if other other fandoms have crazies – but with all the circular links to the HP world – I think it’s true. I’ve also lost interest in fic – and only read late at night when I can’t sleep, haha.
Let’s face it- Both Icy and AG got what they deserved. But I still maintain it’s the crazies who fawn over this shit that’s to blame. I mean, Icy let her fans throw her a “ball” and let them create a role play community based on her story, all the while rolling her eyes at them. But she loved that shit- she loved the attention that went with it. Plain and simple. The fact is she lulled the fandom into thinking she was a sweetheart and that’s just not true- now is it Fandom?
AG had a habit of talking out her ass and complaining endlessly about anyone who garnered more attention than she did. She obviosuly wasn’t converned about feelings- again, just the attention she received [or didn’t receive for that matter].
When the fans stop treating these “authors” like golden tickets, their egos will deflate. Shame on you fandom-ites. You are really to blame.
Now- get off the computer/phone/tablet/e-reader, stop leaving reviews every fucking chapter telling the author how much you love them, stop camping on twitter looking for the latest speck of dirt…

Well, to be fair, all they’re basing their comments on is the gentleblaze post by AG. But honestly, if I had to pick, I’d say AG looks better in all this than SQID does js.
I totes agree that AG looks far better out of this than SQID does. I don’t necessarily agree with what AG did but SQID needed to be taken down about 100 notches.
I’ve never had anything to do with AG aside from reading her stories. Wide Awake was the first fanfiction I ever read, and it was a revelation. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about SQID. I had quite a lot of contact with SQID but I had the audacity to question the necessity of a sequel. For that I’ve never been spoken to again. Am I sorry? HELL NOES! The whole MOTU thing is a complete load of crap.
Yep i agree I think AG comes out of this better than Icy. Although If she had tweeted her views on publishing and Icy looking to publish and make money out of the fandom rather than quoting the private Gchat she would’ve come out fine. People would still have given her shit but at least she’d have the moral high ground. Like I say above I think it was a desperate attempt by AG to try and open the eyes of Icys devout fans. They hold her up as some demigodand can’t seem to see both the bad quality of the writing or her manipulation of them. It’s like some crazy sect. If you go on the Twilighted MOTU discussion page be warned it will give you a Kstewesque shiver.
I get why people have the view of AG that they do but I’m still a fan. I never had any dealings with her personally but I loved her stories (I think she has got some talent), her attitude on pulling to publish and her FF profile page which is so refreshing compared to the usual ‘this is all copyrighted’ wank. She happily provided PDF docs of her stories for us to download which I thought was Stella of her. I’m not excusing her actions but looking at her behaviour overall compared with Icys I know who I prefer.
As for the crap being sprouted at the gazebo I shake my head and sigh. For a group of girls who hate FF so much they sure do spend a lot of time tracking FF fans ip addresses. Whenever I look at the gazebo I wonder why people like Jennday and LS have anything to do with FF. All I can think is that their RL must be very sad and lonely.

I can understand the frustration with SQID publishing her crap, because, moral issues aside, that’s what her writing really is – A crap.
But I would love for AG to stop wasting her energy on fanfic politics shit, find her mojo, and make a come back with another amazing story, because she really is a very talented writer.
