twankharder

Apparently we'll never grow out of twank.

Who’s sorry now?

Jeez, ugaiz.

Since all of us are usually busy as fuck on the weekends, we had just decided to stop posting then. All of a sudden things go splodey.

First off, we were wrong about Krismom, and for that we apologize profusely. It turns out that TVM having exactly the same text as Whatever Makes You Happy wasn’t because she had the book open in front of her; she has complete eidetic memory.

(Believe it or not, this by itself wouldn’t have gotten a post because…wait for it…the horse was dead. So we did not take a screenshot and are relying on what ja6108 copy-pasted on ADF, assuming it wasn’t altered.)

There aren’t enough apologies in the world. I left the PM’s on for a while so people could vent- but that got scary. Fast.

I have no explanation – other than to say it was not done on purpose. I didn’t cut and paste or have the books out in front of me- and have the keystroke count and typos to show for it.

It’s a weird ass memory thing. I have a f*ed up ability to recount large amounts of useless information. Kind of like a photographic memory- it’s considered eidetic memory and most people think it’s unfounded or Asperger’s-ish. It’s not impressive enough to matter- It’s not related to intelligence or even useful. It’s mostly dates, text and random information that scares and impresses people when googled. Although I did get to meet Marilu Henner once. 😉 Most people don’t buy it anyway- kind of like my kid with Sensory Processing Disorder. 😦

I had posted (notice I didn’t say written) half the story before I heard a review on NPR about the book Still Alice- and realized It was the same book/story I read a year ago and was currently posting. I don’t want to ruin an apology with an excuse- so I’ll just say that if I could give you all the time back that you invested reading, I would.

I am so very sorry- my plagiarism penalty was losing all of you. The talent, the stories, the Twitter banter- are all sorely missed. I should have stuck to reading and reviewing- which is what all of you wonderful writers deserve.”

Think about what you’d do if you had the ability to recall whole books absolutely word for word. You could enter any profession you wanted. Count cards and make millions. Or you could go balls to the wall and copy a novel and change the names so it’s a Twilight fanfic.

Since then, Krismom has regretted telling us the truth:

There aren’t enough apologies in the world. I left the PM’s on for a while so people could vent- but that got scary. Fast.

After emailing with an ADF friend today, I realized I shouldn’t have tried to explain myself. It’s all excuses anyway- and nothing ruins an apology like an excuse. The memory thing wasn’t bullshit- but make no mistake I *knew* I was doing it. I didn’t mean to imply otherwise. For this and so very many other things, I am truly sorry.

I apologized profusely and repeatedly to my beta’s. I’m not consciously trying to cut off from the fandom- I’m just to ashamed to speak. I deserve any and all outrage- and accept the consequences of my stupidity.

My plagiarism penalty was losing all of you. The talent, the stories, the Twitter banter- are all sorely missed. I should have stuck to reading and reviewing- which is what all of you wonderful woman deserve.

I’m not apologizing to gain entry back into the fandom. I couldn’t/wouldn’t do that for all the Edward in the world.

Again, I suck and I’m sorry. I would give you back the time you spent reading and investing in the story if I could.

Allow us to also apologize to Ninapolitan, because she was right. Instead of tossing around crap theories all the time, just ask the person if you want the truth about something. They’re not going to lie, ffs:

Now that you’re feeling bad about yourself because you can’t even remember your own phone number half the time, let us point out that people who volunteer or donate regularly are happier people. Better to give than to receive, yakety yak. With that in mind, please consider helping to send the beloved RoseArcadia to ComicCon! The A/N attached to the end of Jadalulu‘s Fold Your Wings tells you why:

*Peeks out at you from finger sluts…err…slits*

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. ‘Tis a cliffy. Feel free to flounce. I know how cruel they are. 🙂

*CLAPS HANDS TOGETHER* NOW…

We’re trying to get our girl RoseArcadia to Comic Con! She’s very shy about this subject and is prolly gonna string me up by mah butt cheeks for doing this-and for raving about her (she’s a rare form of modest), but it must be done. I’m not sure if you guys have had the pleasure of talking to her, but she is the epitome of what this fandom is about. She’s incredibly supportive and uplifting to countless authors. I know I can depend on her to give me an honest, straight forward opinion-sans any catty drama. And let’s be real. A RoseArcadia blinkie is right up there with a forehead kiss from Edward. I know I speak for more than just myself when I say that without her, the fandom wouldn’t be the same. I remember when I was strictly a reader with wistful fantasies about writing something of my own. When I finally worked up the nerve to post, Rose was the first person to embrace me. I cannot accurately describe to you the level of support she lends. Her faith in me isn’t repayable…BUT I’ll be damned if I don’t do my all to try.

Suzie55 and co. forced her to add a donate button to her blog. So, bbs, if you’re feeling so inclined…

http:/rosearcadia(dot)blogspot(dot)com/?zx=11b03b333d699aac.

And now…I run like hell and hide. She’s gonna kicketh my asseth.

Off in a dustcloud,

~jada~

Even SR is promoting this worthy cause along with his/her usual plugs for Alex’s Lemonade Stand etc:

This isn’t a charity, but an opportunity to show our appreciation to RoseArcadia, who has designed blinkies and banners for so many writers. Send her to Comic Con. Donate at: http://rosearcadia.blogspot.com

Girl has lots of friends in high places. We’re jealous. Two of us never heard of her until today, so this jealousy is particularly aggravating.

So, while we’re apologizing to everyone–krismom for not realizing she had “unfounded or Asperger’s-ish” total recall, Ninapolitan for posting theories without asking her first, and RoseArcadia for not knowing who she was until everyone started wanting to send her to ComicCon–let us not forget to apologize to Icy as well. Because just like this nonnie said, we’re just not creative enough to come up with a story like that and that’s why we thought it was a clusterfuck, not because it sucked or anything. We felt secure in our disdain because obviously if it were any good, Omnific would have snapped it up, right?

Right. Except it looks like TWCS beat them to it:

It’s so good already that they really don’t need to do much except print it out and glue it together. The first installment will be out at the end of May.

If you hurry up and apply for one of TWCS’s internships, you might get to witness the fascinating process firsthand.

And see? We thought we were too busy to twank on the weekends. But none of us has a publishing deal, so our attempt to look awesome failed. Damn Icy. She couldn’t do this on a Wednesday?

Laters, twanks.

I think I just choked on my tongue.

If she has such a great memory, wouldn’t she remember that what was coming to mind was from some book? Why can she remember the text, but not that it’s text someone else has written?

Way to dig yourself a deeper hole.

  2. ikss March 6, 2011 at 3:19 am

OC…she does admit to plagiarism and apologizes.

Guess it helps if I read the entire post before I comment…

  3. tact guy March 6, 2011 at 3:19 am

    Bwahahahahah!

Sorry, Omnific and TWCS are not proper publishers. I feel no jealousy toward those who get ‘published’ by them.

The ones buying the books are sheep.

Oh, not to mention it’s horridly unethical to sell fanfiction. Pack of twerps giving us a bad name.

    Write something original, you idiots…

  4. Alby Mangroves March 6, 2011 at 3:21 am

I may have to read this twice to make sure I understand what the fuck just happened.

  5. Have to say March 6, 2011 at 3:26 am

It was astutely pointed out that if you had a memory like that, which some people do, you’d remember the text with the original character names. So you’d have to deliberately change them. Which, in her revised statement, she does admit that she knew she was copying.

  6. Why is all the rum gone? March 6, 2011 at 3:28 am

Oh the stories I could tell about TWCS and Omni. But I have to be careful or else they’ll threaten to sue for A MILLION DOLLARS again.

  7. Anonymous March 6, 2011 at 3:31 am

    ….A story…written…like this…is not meant…to be…read…let alone…published…

    …anyway…I’ll…leave it…at that………

  8. Is that cheese? March 6, 2011 at 3:34 am

Krismom needs to slither away quietly. Enough with the explanations that no one believes.

If RoseArcadia’s friends want to contribute to her Comic Con adventure, I say let them.

MOTU being published seems inevitable. Like a bowel movement after greasy food.

    • twankharder March 6, 2011 at 3:37 am

MOTU being published seems inevitable. Like a bowel movement after greasy food.

Or like pulling a tampon out before having sex.

      • Captain Obvious March 6, 2011 at 6:58 am

I saw a tweet today that summed this up perfectly (the MOTU publishing thing – and really, ANY fanfic being published).

Why would I buy a book I read online for free?

        I wouldn’t.

  9. Anonymous... really? March 6, 2011 at 4:04 am

So, find all Edward replace with ________. Search/find all Bella, replace with ___________.
Find/Search all Seattle, replace with _________. (Oh, hai, now I can leave all my British colloquialisms – cool, bro!)

    Retitle.

Maybe give Stephenie Meyer a shout out in the liner notes.
Then go hide in the bunker and wait for the psycho shit storm to start.

  10. Anonymous March 6, 2011 at 5:24 am

Wait . . . so all I have to do to get people to send me to Comic Con (which I couldn’t afford in a hundred lifetimes right now) is to make a bunch of banners for really, really crappy stories?? AWESOME! I’m gonna get right on that. Oh, wait, I’ve seen the list of stories on RoseArcadia’s blog. No thank you.

  11. nonnie nom March 6, 2011 at 10:21 am

I am very disappointed on SnowQueen… I was hoping that she was different, or that at least she was using her mind a bit more than the rest of the people on the high horses of the fandom..
She has the talent, she can write something original. This is unethical and it treats the people that read her story as idiots

If you ever read this Icy, I hope you know that you’re letting down a lot of people that thought the best of your story. There are a lot of people that’s going to follow you through this but I hope you sit down and think about all this, some place deep inside you might realize that what you’re doing is preposterous and even a bit insulting. Fanfiction is not to be published, you can’t lure fans from your fanfic that is famous because of Twilight into your ‘book’, change the name of the characters and context -maybe(?)-put a ribbon on it and try to sell it to us.

I thought you brave enough to write something that came from yourself alone and going to a REAL publishing house…

  12. Ellie March 6, 2011 at 10:58 am

I think it shows the greatness of the author and her loyal legion of followers that not only do they think publishing a story based on characters of a copyrighted book is a good thing. But seeing it trend on twitter is brilliant. Yep ladies that’s great just incase the writer and her publishing house weren’t aware that fanfiction was being pulled to publish why not point a big arrow at yourselves with the flashing sign above saying ‘LOOK HERE WE ARE PROFITING FROM YOUR COPYRIGHTED WORKS’.
    Bravo ladies, golf clap!!!

    • Ralph S. Mouse March 7, 2011 at 4:47 am

This will probably be the final straw and she’ll get sued. And I can’t even feel pity, because of the things she does behind the scenes. Someone always shows up to say what a great girl she is, but what that really means is that she didn’t have a reason to treat them like shit like she does to anyone who gets in her way.

  13. what the hell ever March 6, 2011 at 12:21 pm

that’s just perfect. really. now those that are reading Icy’s ‘EPIC’ novella will need to fork out $ to finish reading. in addition to everything else that’s happened, this just take the frickin’ cake.

and the Rose travel fund thing gave me an idea…a friend of mine’s is married off in another country, really far from her home. I am gonna go start a fund for her to be able to travel back home, really people are so generous here. All the world problems can be saved with a little Twi world. SERIOUSLY?
It’s not just people who are friends with her who are in this lets send her money mess..there’s peer pressure all over this fandom. Especially if one is a part of the groupie scene. just wow!

  14. CereuleanBlue March 6, 2011 at 12:55 pm

OMFG Not this again. Why must history constantly repeat itself? In case you guys didn’t know, this was a big to do in the fandom when Cassandra Claire got her fans to pay for her to replace a stolen laptop and they also got her into some HP fan convention for free and it blew up in her face big time!!!
Cassie Claire goes to a convention for free

And krismom should please STFU already so we can moveon from the blatant plagarism. I have an eidetic memory (which does not mean total recall) and I don’t ever recall sitting down an randomly typing up a chapter of Harry Potter and replacing Harry, Ron and Hermione with Edward, Jacob, and Bella… JS

And on the topic of pulling to publish… Well let’s just say “You’ll all see…” LMAO

    • Anonymous March 6, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Cassie Claire bothered me from the days back when I was involved in the HP fandom. Now that she’s a big published author, I must admit that I’m known for telling people not to buy her books whenever I see them.

Me: That’s a really bad series.
Them: Really? My teenage daughter (and/or dumbass coworker) told me to read them.
Me: She is uninformed that those books are really Harry Potter fanfiction.
      Them: Fanfiction? Seriously?
Me: Yep. Stole shit from Rowling and tried to make it like it’s her own. Also stole from Buffy and a horde of other 90’s shows and books.
      Them: Ew.
Me: I just saved your life.
      Them: You did.

Cassie Claire a lying liar that lies about all her lying endeavors. Oh and the laptop incident? I’m thankful I didn’t know anyone dumb enough to actually pay her anything. That made me unbelievably furious.

In other news, guys! I really really REALLY want to travel to the WFE premiere in London. Since I’m SO nice won’t you guys help fund the trip?! It will be a great experience for us both. I’ll get a free trip and be a douche, and you’ll all get to be bigger douches for paying for it! Sound good?

      *Insert eye roll here*

    • Ralph S. Mouse March 7, 2011 at 4:42 am

this was a big to do in the fandom when Cassandra Claire got her fans to pay for her to replace a stolen laptop and they also got her into some HP fan convention for free and it blew up in her face big time!!!

I remember her begging for an ipod which I think just her friends bought, then that massive donation drive for three laptops (hers, her boyfriend’s and her roommate’s) where they allegedly ended up with thousands of extra dollars which we hope went to charity. I didn’t know about the convention. But did it really blow up in her face? People complained, but she still got all the money and things and there are so many people who stick up for her even with all the evidence about this and her plagiarism. It seems to me like they never really have to answer for the shit they get away with.

    • iDied March 7, 2011 at 5:00 am

      “You’ll all see!” ¬_¬

  15. anyone? March 6, 2011 at 7:46 pm

    1) Krismon: LOL. girl, just stop. Time to get a sock account and move on.

    2) Icy: I always knew she was full of shit when she lied about some other stuff having to do with her story getting “pulled” by ffnet admins. Not surprised that she would do this, I thought it had happened ages ago. I wonder if this will be the straw that broke the publishing camel’s back though? I mean, trending worldwide on twitter??? Someone’s gonna notice and someone’s gonna get in trooouuublllle.

    3) Rose Arcadia: Who in their right minds ever gives their money to anyone in the fandom? Haven’t we all learned. *coughsupportstaciecough* COME ON. Donate to people that really need it through legitimate charities if you want to do something nice for someone.

  16. Jamie March 7, 2011 at 3:09 am

Hey. I have an idea of my very own. Yeah! I read the entire comment log for this and I gotta tell you. You self righteous lump of losers gave me the best laugh I’ve had all week. I find it HYSTERICAL that you harbor such disdain for the fandom, for writers-whatever the case is-and yet utilize your time and energy fueling it out into the world. Helping it gain momentum and contributing to the hype.
Every entry above reads as nothing more than one of you trying to ‘out-funny’ the one before. I was sent this article when I asked what everyone was worked up about as far as MOTU publishing was concerned.
Glad I did. You bitches are hysterical.

  17. Ralph S. Mouse March 7, 2011 at 4:37 am

The discussion on the Gaz was priceless. Everyone wanted to be the first to say they never read it, no ma’am! To listen to them every time, you’d think no one ever reads these pulled fics. Still they’re always able to remember all the details about the story, not just the memes. Do they think anyone really cares if they didn’t read it?

  18. nomsie March 7, 2011 at 4:44 pm

Does this really come as a surprise to anyone? I’ve watched this fandom bubble of arrogance and self-righteousness grow for years. No action of these self-publishers, plagiarizers and frauds surprises me anymore.

Obsessed readers keep whiteknighting fics and worship writers like deities.
Readers keep telling writers to get published bc, OMG, this story NEEDS to get published.
They have charity contests to celebrate how fanfiction saves the world.
In the fandom, “copyright” only applies when it protects your own story.

Big name writers can get away with anything and are celebrated as idols for it. There’s always someone to defend them. Examples? Snowqueen’s Icedragon is celebrated for pulling her fic and cashing in on the fandom’s stupidity. AngstGoddess posts excerpts from private chats with her and is celebrated for her daring instead of questioned for her violation of that small little word, privacy. Why wouldn’t people think that cheating and bullying is the way to go in this fandom?

    • CQH Extraordinaire March 10, 2011 at 9:37 pm

You don’t take a gun to a knife fight; but then again you don’t take a sock.

Icy is basically bullying, what like hundreds of loyal readers. AG brought it back on her.Is it right? No. Was it cleaver? Naw, she could have done sooooo much better. Was it effective? We are sitting here discussing it arent we? She showed a lot of people what Icy was really like and then Icy went ahead and confirmed it for us, even elaborating. You know she really could have saved us the trouble of reading that crap by just posting a banner (maybe roseacadia can make it??) That says IMA BITCH AND IMA PROFIT OFF YOUR ASSES. I DONT LIKE YOU. I DONT WANNA BE NEAR YOU. GIMMIE MONEY AND FAWN OVER ME! (holy crap are icy and kstew related????)

  19. ikss March 7, 2011 at 6:11 pm

Just a warning: Henceforth, I shall be saving every single gchat, skype transcript, email exchange, etc. I participate in.

And I am one venomous chick, so just know that like a year from now, that conversation we had when you were in the midst of PMS and your kids were driving you batty and someone left you a shitty review and you had just HAD IT with the fandom and you kind of went off at the mouth in a fired-up rant will be posted on Twitter or my FB or my blog or hell, I might even rent a billboard on Sunset and Vine and post quotes from our conversation so that all the world can see what a horrible person you were that one time.

    Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

  20. Anonymous March 7, 2011 at 6:15 pm

I wish I could say this (MOTU getting pubished) surprises me, but it doens’t.

What does surprise me is that MOTU was trending on twitter, I just can’t wrap my mind around that.

  21. starsgobluee March 7, 2011 at 6:21 pm

I can’t say this (MOTU getting published) surpirses me.

What does surprise me is tht MOTU was trending on twitter. I just can’t wrap my mind around that.

  22. Captain Obvious March 7, 2011 at 6:39 pm

MOTU the fanfic was not the MOTU that was trending on twitter. It was some phone app…. although it appears Icy got all kinds of free press because of it.

Now I’ve read MOTU and I thought it was a decent enough story. Would it have been so popular with everyone if it wasn’t fanfic? (The same goes for WA and all the other fanfics that have been published) If I hadn’t read the story online first, and I saw this book in the stores (oh wait, I WON’T because books ‘published’ by TWCS and Omni*cough*Twilighted*fic aren’t sold in brick & mortar stores), I don’t know if I’d read it then either.

I am loving it how people assume that the ones that are dogging Icy are jealous because she’s publishing. I think it’s great that she wants to publish (and I wish her the best), but she should try publishing something completely of her own. Every person has the right to try to publish their work… when it’s THEIR work. I could be honestly happy for her if she came out and said “Hey guys, thanks for all your support with MOTU and SH. I have been working on something completely orgiinal and I would love if it you would take a look at it. It hit stores and e-readers on XX/XX/XXXX” THAT would be something I would stand up and say “Hey, that’s awesome!”

    • ikss March 7, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Actually, if you did a search on #MOTU on Twitter, 9 out of 10 of the tweets with that hashtag were related to the fic, not the app.

    • starsgobluee March 7, 2011 at 6:55 pm

I’m actually kinda relieved you cleared that up for me, I just srly could’t wrap my mind around that.

On the jelaousy thing I just don’t understand what makes her think that. I admit I read a couple of chapters, but it just got ridic for me at one point, so I really hope authors aren’t jelaous, ’cause I don’t know a reason why they should.

    • Anon E Mouse March 7, 2011 at 9:42 pm

      Was Wide Awake published?

      • Captain Obvious March 7, 2011 at 10:03 pm

Upon further investigation, Wide Awake was NOT published. I was mistaken (feel free to beat me with wet noodles). I had gotten WA mixed up with another hugemongous fic… whose name now escapes me. So my apologies to AngstGoddess, to whom I meant no offense.

        • CQH Extraordinaire March 10, 2011 at 9:39 pm

Was it the never-ending one by a creepy male with an ego the size of arkansas who now goes and reads books to little kids to promote his filthy smutty cra..er novel? (see TWCS publishing facebook page)

      • Anonymous March 7, 2011 at 10:11 pm

No. In fact AG even provides a link to download it on her LJ. You should check out her FF profile page. She restored my faith in BNAs with this profile. A voice of reason in this crazy old fandom: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1713572/AngstGoddess003

  23. Ellie March 7, 2011 at 10:31 pm

So you guys should check out the gazebo and AGs twitter. It seems that Ag started posting on twitter pieces of a conversation that she’d had with snow queen. Theses Twits didn’t show snowy in the best light, soooooooooo she then responded by posting the chunks of a discussion they had about setting up a fanfiction site where they charged users. I’m not kidding, lol. Check it out.

    • Captain Obvious March 7, 2011 at 10:52 pm

True, it doesn’t paint either one of them positively, but if I understood that convo that was posted correctly, it was supposed to be an original fiction site, not fanfiction, but it would be for people who wrote fanfiction to post their original stuff. There are already sites out there however, that are free. Fanfiction has a sister site that is just for original fiction.

All being said, AG isn’t trying to publish her fanfic… which still puts her at least a little above the other authors that have (like Icy).

      • Ellie March 7, 2011 at 11:02 pm

Yep you’re right. You’re right I read it on the gazebo and it wasn’t in it’s entirety as it is here so I didn’t pick up on the reference to O/F.

  24. Anonymous March 7, 2011 at 11:17 pm

Never mind the epic fucked-up-edness that is Krismom.
Icy- I saw that coming a mile away.
What I really, really, REALLY wanna know is……..
    who the FUCK is RoseArcadia??

    • Captain Obvious March 7, 2011 at 11:40 pm

She a blinkie maker … and if she decides to make you a blinkie, it is considered an ‘honor’… Now, I will admit, she does make some pretty awesome blinkies, but I’m not going to send her to ComicCon because of it. I think she wrote a fic too, not 100% on it so don’t hold me to it.

  25. CQH Extraordinaire March 10, 2011 at 6:45 am

Ok somehow this got lost in all the fuckery so I wanted to bring up the intern topic. Oh TWCS…you think you are so cleaver, but I am fluent in bullshit! Some Highlights…

TWCS Publishing House has internships available in the Editing, Literary Acquisitions, and Marketing Departments. See below for more information and how to apply. Please note that internships are unpaid, educational experiences and are open to college seniors, graduate students, recent graduates, and anyone looking for experience in the publishing industry.

Translation: We are looking for betas, fic readers who can manipulate BNAS into selling out, and banner makers. We won’t pay you, just like you aren’t getting paid now. We are looking for anyone who has nothing better to do with their time.

The Writer’s Coffee Shop is an up and coming publishing house, based in New South Wales, Australia, with international offices in Scotland and Texas. We opened our virtual doors in October 2010, with the release of our first two books. Since our opening, 10 books have been published with 30 more slated for release through the end of 2011, and over 50 anticipated for 2012.

Translation: I opened this bitch in my living room, and i got my bff from facebook talked into it to…she does this in TX. She knew some chic that read fic i her bathroom in Scotland and we all got together to make it happen. We’ve released..oh im sorry, we’ve SOLD a total of 10 copies of the books we’ve plagerized..er..published. We are hoping with ICYs big ego she will buy like 50 copies of her own.

The Writer’s Coffee Shop is currently looking for interns in the Editing, Literary Acquisitions and Marketing departments. The Writer’s Coffee Shop works primarily through web-based avenues with satellite offices around the globe.Interns will be able to work from their homes, so long as they have a reliable Internet connection. To apply, please send an email to publishing@thewriterscoffeeshop.com, with “Intern” in the subject line. In the body of the email be sure to include your full name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and university or college you attend. Also attach your resume/CV and any relevant samples of your work.

Translation: We need people who don’t have jobs to sit around all day and read fic and scour twitter to see what the next big thing is. If we yank it soon enough, surely they will want to buy, no? ou can work from home as long as you have internet…otherwise you better get your ass to the internet cafe.

  26. Taomerline March 10, 2011 at 12:21 pm

I understand the problem with the fanfic writer who plagarized a story. There is no explanation possible. I have great recall and a great love of literature. As of yet, I am unable to write my own story (fanfiction, or not). I am very aware that even reading a whole lot of fanfiction can fill your mind with “thoughts of stories” that still aren’t your creation, etc. This is why I haven’t written anything yet.

But I disagree, say don’t understand, what the uproar is about a fanfiction being published by that fanfic writer IF THE STORYLINE & PLOT are not plagarized. There is nothing in the story line of Motu I & II that has ANYTHING AT ALL to do with that strange/weird vampire story by SM. It’s not about highschool life, it’s not about vampires, it’s not about vampire wars, or vampire sex & baby, etc. It simply mentions the town of forks and the same character names … that sort of a requirement for fan fiction, isn’t it?

What probably started off as just a quick story has been so unbelievably written with completely original storyline, completely original plot, that now it up to 112 huge chapters. Icy SnowQueen has created so many NEW WORDS, NEW LINGO, NEW EDWARD CHARACTERISTICS, NEW INTEREST IN DOMINATION & SUBMISSION that so many other (old & new) fanfic writers have been gobbling up and spewing back into fanfiction. Talk about plagarism gone insane … When try reading some of the other stories, it’s just a joke because I KNOW WHERE THEY GOT IT FROM !

The only thing that isn’t original in MOTU I & II are the character names. No one older than 12 will think her characters are the teenage & vampire characters. People want her story published so they can read again, over time instead of sitting stuck to a screen. People want to have THEIR OWN PERSONAL COPY that they can highlight, markup, fold the corner down, etc. I don’t know if ther are any other fan fiction writers who have written a story that is 112 HUGE CHAPTERS that never dull, never go off track, the plot keeps thickening, the excitement & drama never end. That is what makes a book worthy of being a book!!!! I’m going to pay for her books for these reasons.

My only problem with the publishing aspect … is that eventually … come one year … Icy, herself, may tire of keeping the story growing. But when that day comes, I will once again THANK THE GODS that I bought the books when she published.

Final words, you naysayers need to grow the f**k up. You need to get a fricking life. You need to stop this f**kery because it’s only good when it’s kinky!!!

All fan fiction is profiting off of the original writers, if not in money, then in fame (to whatever degree). And how many of you still don’t know that JKRowling was sued up the yingyang because she completely stole the character names & various unique words & phrases and description from a little known book that was published YEARS before her famous Harry Potter Stories. Don’t get me wrong, I have all 7 hardback copies of HP … but I accept that she was NOT COMPLETELY ORIGINAL she just had an original storyline, and a very good plot.

Once again … GROW UP!! MOVE ON!! Do something great yourself!!! If you can. And bitch and moan all you want … I’m never coming back to this website. I’ve also made a list of you pathetic wangers and I’m going to start a campaign against YOUR STORIES. Isn’t it wonderful what goes around, comes around. ICY, do whatever you want. It’s your life, and that includes the ups and the sometimes downs. Walk On. So am I.

Also – about your Rawlings stealing blurb:

      courtsey of http://www.chillingeffects.org/fanfic/faq.cgi
Harry Potter: Nancy Stouffer claimed she was the author of several works based on a set of characters called “Muggles,” and brought an action against Scholastic Inc. and J. K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series, for trademark violations. Subsequently, the suit was dismissed and Stouffer fined after the District Court judge found that she had “perpetrated a fraud on the court” by altering documents after release of the first Harry Potter books. See Scholastic, Harry Potter Author Win `Muggles’ Suit (Update2) for more details.

Twilight fanfiction is a derivative work. If it started life as twilight fanfiction it is twilight fanfiction whether Edward is vamp, human, alien from the planet Zog. Publishing derivative fiction from copyrighted works is illegal. Furthermore if SM or her publishing house discover or choose to act on this we can all say bye bye to twilight FF.
“I’ve also made a list of you pathetic wangers and I’m going to start a campaign against YOUR STORIES” You may want to take a slice of your own advice when it comes to growing the fuck up and getting a ‘fricking’ life.

Nope Icy wasn’t the first to introduce S&M into Twilight FF. Others did it before her with a far greater understanding of that scene and far greater writing talent. So I guess if we use your logic Icy herself is the plagiariser.
I’ve got to say though thank you for commenting here I haven’t laughed so much in ages. Now be a good little shipper and head back home, the mother ship is calling you. But you come back soon you hear because for entertainment value you’re 10/10! ; )

Goodness. Those are fightin’ words! Did you note that most of the posters are Anonymous and the rest probably don’t write stories? Still, I’ll stand by and wait for your campaign to begin, I guess. I can’t begin to imagine what my 10 readers will think of my story when you are done… I only hope that freedon of speech isn’t injured int he process.

That doesn’t look like Christian Grey…you said EDWARD….hmmm..who does Edward belong to? (please say me! please say me…) Damnit..no…SM owns em all.

This is why publishing fan fiction is wrong.

Fan fiction is a derivative work under United States copyright law.[22] – courtsey of wikipedia

Yes, a shitton of fanfiction has vastly different plots, different locals, especially when it’s AU, AH, and OOC from Canon. But, it’s still fanfiction, plain and simple.

Until the copywright law is changed or interpreted differently, I will continue to argue AGAINST publishing fanfiction.

There are a ton of talented, creative, and gifted authors in the fandom. It would be really awesome if those people could devote their energies to a completely original work, free of any “deriative work,” and publish.

This argument would be a moot point if that was done.

There is more to this. Say I want to sell grey peacoats, k? I can’t use Edward Cullen’s face. I cannot ellude to his character, I cannot use the fact that he wore them…Why would this be different for books? She is basically using someone elses intellectual property to sell her product even after she changes the names. Its forever tainted.

Case in point; during the shooting of twilight, the costume director had to run out and buy a jacket for stewy because her hair blended in with the original brown hoodie they selected, making her look like a wookie. The purchased a BB Dakota jacket off the rack of a store. After the release of the movie, BB Dakota decided to profit off of this usage, re-releasing the jacket and selling tons of them with the advertisement that they were the jacket Bella wore in twilight…uh oh…what happened there….Summit sued their asses.

Thank you, you said it much more eloquently than I could earlier. I am not a lawyer so I didn’t want to get into a sparring match with that bright bulb that doesn’t understand what the US defines fanfiction as and how it relates to copyright law.

  28. what the hell ever March 11, 2011 at 10:13 am

forget copyright & all of the legal stuff for a moment. just changing names from Edward to XYZ means nothing if the habits, characteristics that are canon get carried over into the ‘original fiction’ that’s to be published. If Edward is not the over protective, brooding, emo guy; Alice the overexcited, meddling in every one’s life person; if Emmett is not portrayed as the gentle giant – then and only then can one lay claim to writing anything out of Twilight inspired fan fiction. That being said if the story is good in itself then it will sell but most of these used-to-be-ff-now-are-original stuff sells for a buck ninety nine anyway.
My question to anyone who says we will buy a copy is why would you want to spend money on something that’s been available on the world wide web for free?
